Ge Profile Microwave Repair
Most people should not attempt GE Profile microwave repair on their own. However there are a few different common problems that are easy to trouble shoot and deal with before you call the GE service technician. Here are a few common ways to fix your GE Profile microwave.
Microwave Wont Turn On
Sometimes the microwave wont turn on because someone has accidentally tripped the control-lock features. If you cant turn on your microwave and you already know that its been plugged in and has power then you should try holding down the off button for three seconds. This will re-set the control lock if the control lock is the source of the problem.
Sensors On The Fritz
You should be aware that the sensors are set to detect the temperature of the food but they get nervous when the food reaches 200 degrees Fahrenheit or more. Sometimes the food is just too hot and youre going to have to remove it and allow the interior of the microwave to cool down before the sensors will be happy again.
Something Is Sparking Inside Of The Microwave
This is definitely one of the scariest scenarios but you shouldnt panic. First, check for chipped paint. Sometimes chipped paint has revealed the interior metal which can start to spark. If the paint is chipped you can simply repaint the inside using a heat resistant epoxy paint. GE can recommend some brands if you call tech support. Sometimes theyll even offer to send you the right paint. If theres no chipped paint then you should check for old food which might be stuck to the inside of the microwave. Sometimes the food itself can spark again and again as well. You should also make sure the dish or cup you are using is microwave safe and that theres no aluminum anywhere in the microwave. Even a tiny piece of aluminum foil accidentally stuck to a dish can cause the sparking effect.
The Turn-table Is Not Turning
Sometimes the turn table comes off its track. Make sure that the tracks are aligned with the microwave roller and that the turn table is sitting properly. The most common culprit of a mis-aligned turn-table is a dish thats too large so check the size of your dish as well.
Food Doesnt Cook Well
Believe it or not the most common culprit for food that doesnt cook well is a dirty microwave! Food particles become stuck to the inside of the microwave. They cook over and over again, but theyre soaking up the heat that should go to your new food! You will need to use a mild soap and some warm water to clean the microwave (dont use a harsh soap or a harsh sponge or youll chip the paint, see above). If your microwave is clean its possible you accidentally used a lower setting: check the settings to make sure youre using a setting that is high enough.
